Creativity on hiatus

I'm putting the self-portrait project on hiatus. I've been feeling less than creative for a while now. I seem to have a hard time coming up with anything more than a picture of my hands or feet, me driving, or me holding a handwritten sign. I think I officially stopped two or three days ago; I haven't even posted the last few weeks worth of photos, but I'll get to that soon.

I believe my creativity is drained between finishing my last class, trying to figure out a way to get the rest of my belongings to my apartment, coming up with something cool to do in my pottery class (not happening), and then my quest to acquire dishes to break and then turn into a mosaic. I literally have bought more than 90 plates at random thrift stores near me. In fact, on Saturday I was recognized in two different Salvation Army locations. One person called me an Artist, which I thought was kind of cool, although I don't think of myself as an Artist.

Okay, back to breaking dishes. I'm almost finished with this first tray I've been working on.

















I have a lot more than this completed, I'm just too lazy tired to take a photo, put it on my computer, adjust the color or whatever, then upload it to my blog. I already have this one from a week or so ago.

  1. I get into slumps, too. My brain gets overloaded and there is no room for crafty juice.

  2. I need one of those tools for breaking tiles and I guess plates too. It looks like fun. Plus, you could probably clip your nails with it.

    ---Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I guess technically my creative juices are being focused in a different area, but still, I do feel like I've slipped into a slump.

    ---There is no way you could cut your nails with these tools. Cut your fingers, yes; cut your finger nails, no. Even when the tile nippers are closed as far as they'll go, there's about an eighth-inch gap between the cutting edges.
    The tool on top is for cutting glass. I have about 7 pounds of glass tiles and that tool isn't going to work the way I want it to (so I had to modify my design a bit). Bummer, dude.

  4. Creative block is the evil of all artists!
    On a logo project a few years back I was completely void of ideas. The harder I tried the worse it got. So I gave up and went for a drive. I needed gas and stopped to fill up, during which a fabulous idea flashed into my head. Was it the gas fumes?

    I raced back to my office worked up the design and the client loved it!

  5. I am immediately intrigued by you...Zeppelin, Oysterhead, Primus, & FLips fan??? Your coolness level is through the roof...tru 'da roof as the homies might say... I am far too white to accept that, however...

    But you are instantly very cool in my mind... kudos!
